Interactive math activities
Activities to understand math by handling it: move, predict, check. Built for the Québec curriculum, from elementary to high school.
Adding fractions
Cut two bars into parts of the same size to find a common denominator, then add. Why we never add the denominators.
Equation balance
Keep the scale balanced to isolate x: add, subtract, multiply or divide on both sides at once.
Circle and π
Change the radius: the edge of a circle is always a bit more than 3 diameters. Circumference π × d and area π × r², with a calculator.
Mean and median
Move the points on a dot plot and watch the mean and the median. Add an outlier and find out which of the two holds up better.
Pythagorean theorem
Change the legs of a right triangle and compare the areas of the squares on its sides. Test whether a triangle is right and find a missing side.
System of equations
Two lines, one system: find where they meet by comparison, then check on the graph. Discover the cases with no solution and with infinitely many solutions.
